THIS IS A LIFE SAVER QUESTION!!THIS IS A LIFE SAVER QUESTION!!!
A) Based on your experimentally determined Rate Law for thereaction of crystal violet and OH-, what effect would doubling theDye concentration ([OH-] constant) have on the reaction rate?
B) If you had used [OH-] values of 0.030 M and 0.04M, respectively, instead of the concentrations used, would you have determined anidentical Rate Law to the one you obtained in this procedure? Whyor why not?
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE LAB THAT CORRESPONDS WITH THESEQUESTIONS:http://papadantonakis.com/images/b/b9/W06_Crystal_Violet-Hydroxide_Ion_Expt.pdf
Explanation / Answer
Part A depends on if the reaction is totally dependant on theconcentration of OH, the Dye, or dependant on both. Ifit si dependant on OH- only then the reaction rate would notchange. If it is either of the other options then thereaction rate would double. As for part B using different concentration would have noeffect on the rate that you determined in the experiment. rate is just the realation of the concentration to the rate ofreaction and it doesn't matter what you start out with jsut as longas you know what it is.Related Questions
