Question

Question: a). Which item or data will be in error and how would themolarity of NaOH solution be affected if a student forgets to rinsethe buret with NaOH solution before carrying out acid-basetitration? b). And if bubbles of air were trapped in the tip of theburet? c). If the meniscus if the NaOH solution was sitting right onthe 32 line and a student reported the reading as 32ml instead of32.00 ml? Question: a). Explanation / Answer

(a) If a student forgets to rinse the buret with NaOH beforecarrying out an acid-base titration, the NaOH solution used will beslightly diulted. So more volume of NaOH would be required andcalculated molarity of NaOH would belower. . (b) If bubbles of air were trapped in the tip of the buret, thevolume of NaOH run down would be less compared to what is observedin the buret reading. So the molarity of NaOH calculated would be lower. . (c) If the reading was reported as 32 mL instead of 32.00 mL,there would be no change in the molarity of NaOH.
