Question
Hello all,The question states that X has 0.035 mg of estradiol in each pill. The formula of this compound is: C20H24O2.
A. How many moles of estradiol in one pill? I found the answer tobe 1.18E-7 mol.
B. Molecules? I got 7.2E16.
C. How many Carbon atoms are in 0.035 mg sample of estradiol?
^^^ This is my question? How to set this problem up? I am confusd. So far I have:
.035 mg * 1 gram * 1 mol Estradiol/ (10^3 mg) (296 gramsEstradiol).
But I am unsure where to go from here?
D. The next part says what is the mass of carbon in this---ingrams?
I just need help with the setup. I'll do the calculationsmyself.
Help with the setup is much appreciated and I will ratelifesaver!
Thanks.
Explanation / Answer
The number of Carbon atoms are in 0.035 mg (0.0035 *10-3 g) sample of estradiol (0.035 * 10-3g C20H24O2* 20 atoms C ) /(296.36 g C20H24O2) = 2.36 * 10-6 atoms C Mass of 1 Carbon atom = 12.011 g Mass of 2.36 * 10-6 atoms C = (12.011 g * 2.36 *10-6 atoms C ) / 1 Carbon atom = 2.84 * 10-5 gRelated Questions
