Question 60 ml of pure chlorine gas ( Cl, at I atm) is injected to a l cubic meter of air in a confined chamber at the same pressure.What would be the chlorine concentration in ppm after injection (v/v ppm) ? oOinl Question 8) What is the Molarity of a sulfuric acid solution by dissolving 196 grams H2SO4 in enough water to make 4 Liter of this solution? Question 9) What will be the new concentration if another 4 liters of water be added to the solution in question 8? Question 10) How many grams of CaCl2 are needed to prepare 125 ml of a 1.50 M solution of this compound?

Explanation / Answer

7.

Volume of Cl2 = 60 mL

volume fo air = 1 m3

But we know that,

1 m3 = 106 mL

So,

Volume of air = 106 mL

Now,

ppm = volume of chlorin * 106 / volume of air

ppm of Cl2 = 60 * 106 / 106 = 60 ppm

8.

Molarity = (mass / molar mass ) * ( 1/ volume of solution)

Molarity = (196 / 98) * (1/4)

M = 0.5 M

9.

Using dilution formula,

M1 V1 = M2 V2

0.50 * 4 = M2 * 8

M2 = 0.25 M

10 .

Mass of CaCl2 = Molarity * molar mass * volume of solution in mL / 1000

mass = 1.50 * 111 * 125 / 1000

Mass of CaCl2 needed = 20.8 g.
