Chemistry 111 Quiz #13 Name Directional You can use any resource, but one that "breathes". The quiz is due to me by the date stated on BB. If it is turned in later than this date, you will earn a 0. It can be turned in electronically or paper form. Answer the following questions. (10 points) 1. Arterial blood contains about 0.25 mg of oxygen per milliliter. What is the temperature of 37.07 (2points) T-31 2. Calculate the ratio of the effusion rates of hydrogen gas and uranium hexafluoride(a gas used in the enrichment process to produce fuel for nuclear reactors). (1 points) 3. Arrange the following of gases fom slowest to fastest with respect to ate and time of effusion: Cly, CH, CH,CH,CH, H, (1 point)

Explanation / Answer

Osmotic pressure is given by =MRT where M is the molarity, R is gas constant and T is the Temperature in Kelvin

Oxygen has a molar mass of 32g/mole

0.25mg*1mmol/32mg = 0.0078 mmoles of oxygen in 0.25 mg

It is in a volume of 1ml, so molarity = 0.0078mmoles/1ml = 0.0078M

The temp is 37.5degC = (273+37.5)K = 210.5K

= (0.0078)(0.082)(310.5) = 0.1985 atm pressure which is almost equals to 0.2atm pressure.
