Question

I am solving the first two problems, post multiple question to get the remaining answers

Q24)

Correct answer is Option B (HY is stronger acid than HX)

Reason:

Dissociation Equations will be

AgX ------> Ag+ + X-

AgY ------> Ag+ + Y-

Now the acid will be stronger if it is dissociating more and forming more of H+ to increase the acidic strength

If the H+ combines with X- or Y- it will shift equilibrium towards the ions side and that will lead to increase in solubility of silver salts

So if AgX is more soluble that implies HX is getting formed more in the reaction, which means the reverse reaction is getting favored more in the case of HX

Hence HY will dissociate more making it stronger acid than HX

Q25)

The pH of the buffer solution is affected by two reasons

1) With the change in Ka of the acid

2) Change in the concentration of [A-]/[HA]

Since the concentration of [A-]/[HA] is same in both the cases

Hence the correct answer is Option C

pH of buffer 1 is same as pH of buffer 2
