Explanation / Answer

Answer (1) :-

The number of electrons present in the outer most shell of an atom is called its valency.

Hence,

52Te (tellurium) - 1s22s22p63s23p63d104s24p64d105s25p4

From the above electronic cofiguration, 6 electrons are present in the outer most shell of tellurium. So 'valency of tellurium is 6'.

31Ga (gallium) - 1s22s22p63s23p63d104s24p1

From the above electronic configuration, 3 electrons are present in the outer most shell of gallium. So 'valency of gallium is 3'.

33As (arsenic) - 1s22s22p63s23p63d104s24p3

From the above electronic configuration, 5 electrons are present in the outer most shell of arsenic. So 'valency of arsenic is 5'. Valancy 3 is also possible in arsenic, in which 4s2 electrons are present as lone pair of electron.

Answer (2) :-

* Formula of hydride formed by cesium is CsH.

* Formula of hydride formed by argon is ArH. Naturally agron hydride is present as argon monohydride.
