Question

If determination
should I balanced the equation?
so does it give 2Fe^3+ + 2SCN^- --> 2F2 SCN^2+??
what is correct equation if I want to make ICE table?
I'd be very appreciated if you could answer me the correct equation for Kc determination with ICE
thank you!

Step 6. On the reverse side, complete an 'ICE' table using this same procedure, but using a different reaction stoichiometry: Fe 2 SCNFeSCN. Assume that the equilibrium concentration of FeSCN is 0.0000625 M, or one-half its previous value. Remember how the reaction stoichiometry affects the expression for Ke. K, Determination Page 1 of 1

Explanation / Answer

The problem presents a computation error, the product is simply 1 molecule of SCN-.

Correct equation:

Fe + 3 + SCN- = FeSCN + 2

assuming that in the beginning there is no FeSCN + 2 product

I: a + b = 0

C: -x + -x = + x

E: a-x + b-x = x

x = [FeSCN + 2] = 0.0000625 M

Kc = [FeSCN + 2] / [Fe + 3] * [SCN-] = 0.0000625 M / (a-0.00000625) * (b-0.0000625)

where;

a: Initial concentration of Fe + 3

b: Initial concentration of SCN-

you must know a and b in order to determine Kc.
