Question
The image below shows a living cell from the lung epithelium of a newt at different stages in M phase. Order these light micrographs into the correct sequence and identify the stage in M phase that each represents. Name the stage of M phase in which the following events occur. Place the number 1-8 next to the letter headings to indicate the normal order of events. alignment of the chromosomes at the spindle equator attachment of spindle microtubules to chromosomes breakdown of nuclear envelope pinching of cell in two separation of two centrosomes and initiation of mitotic spindle assembly re-formation of the nuclear envelope condensation of the chromosomes separation of sister chromatids Describe which components of the cytoskeleton and which motor proteins are required for separation of chromosomes into the two daughter cells. What function does each of these components play? Describe which components of the cytoskeleton and which motor proteins arc required for cyExplanation / Answer
4.1... Although the diagram are not very clear.
5 is prophase, showing segregated chromosomes. 4 is pro-metaphase, where chromosomes are aligning towards the center, but have not aligned completely. 3 is metaphase, showing all chromosomes properly aligned to the center. 1 is anaphase, in which chromosomes are moving toward poles. 6 is either late anaphase or telophase. It is showing all the chromosomes moved apart. And 2 is showing cytokinesis, but daughter cells are still attached to each other and have not separated completely.
4.2... breakdown of nuclear envelope------> condensation of chromosome----> attachment of spindle microtubule to the chromosomes-------> separation of two centrosomes and initiation of mitotic spindle assembly----------> alignment of chromosomes at spindle equator-----> separation of sister chromatids--------> re-formation of nuclear envelope------> pinching of cell into two.
