Question
Predict the pH of a salt placed in water. Remember you have 3 choices here, acidic, basic or neutral. You must be prepared to justify your answer with chemical equations. In the first equation you might show the disassociation of the salt in water if the salt is soluble. You will then take the cation and anion determine if they will interact with water to produce and acid or a base.A. NaCl B. Na2CO3 C. NiCl2 D. NH4Br E. Fe(NO3)3
Can someone tell how to justify the anwser with the chemical equation and how to just work a problem like this out in general .
Explanation / Answer
I am curious to know why it doesn't have a pH of 7 though..unlike some of the other "salts." I'm not a tutor, just a student like yourself so if if anyone knows the answer to this let us know..thanks!
