Question
A bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid, labeled 98% by mass, has a concentration of 18.0 M.a) Calculate the density of this solution.
b) How many mL of reagent should be diluted to 0.750 L to give a 1.50 M solution?
If someone could please show me all your steps and labeling I would really appreciate it! :)
Explanation / Answer
for a. 18 xL = 5 M *8 L xL=2.22 L -> 222 mL for b. Weight % = 98 Molecular weight = 98 g/mol and concentration (molarity) = 18.0M Formula for the caculation of density : Molatity = (weight% / molecular weight ) * 10*density from that density = (molecular weight*molarity ) / (weight%)*(10) = (98g/mol *18.0mol /L) / (98)*(10) = 1.80 g/L ? density of 98 wt%H2SO4 = 0.018 g/mL
