I am having a hard time grasping this concept for my exam. Can anyone help me thoroughly understand it?

"Throughout our life history, we, humans, have experienced a series of demographic transitions. What are the demographic transitions that have influenced mortality patterns in human populations?"

Is this talking about incidences such as cholera or smallpox? Or is this asking about events dating back to much earlier human populations? Both even? So confused! Any insight into this question would be appreciated!

A change in demographic conditions simply means the transition from high birth and death rate to low birth and death rate.There are 4 stages of demographic transitions. Most of the developed countries lie in stage 3 or 4, where as the develoing countries lie in stage 2-3 of this transition.
