I was working on the analysis of aluminum-zinc alloy and I need to determine the percentage of aluminum and zinc in the alloy using the amount of hydrogen moles made by their respective reactions with HCl. But I think I made a mistake, given that I recorded the mass of water displaced by the reaction rather than the volume. How can I determine the amount of hydrogen moles made by the reactions from the amount of water displaced? I am thinking about using the density of water but where do I go from there?

The reaction with water is H2O yields 2H+ .5O2. It is okay ifyou have the mass of water. Divide this mass by the Molecularweight of wate which is 18grams /mol. Therefore you will have themoles of water. Based on the stoichemistry of the equation 1 moleof water yields two moles of hydrogen.
So basically find the moles of water and multiply by two.This will give you the amount of Hydrogen molesproduced.
