A liquid which is at room temperature is in equilibrium withits vapor, because there is a cover on the container. If the coveris removed, what is the immediate result? A. The average kinetic energy increases B. The evaporation rate decreases C. The evaporation rate increases D. The condensation rate decreases E. The condensation rate increases Please EXPLAIN youranswer. A liquid which is at room temperature is in equilibrium withits vapor, because there is a cover on the container. The condensation rate increases Please EXPLAIN youranswer.Explanation / Answer
The evaporation rate would not change becuase that is dependant of temperature, but the condensation rate is dependant on concentration. When the lid was closed the vapor molecules were forced into contact with the liquid. the close contact allowed for them to trnasfer energy and condence. Try it some time with water. Take a container and fill it half way with water and but it is a warm spot. You will see that there are several drops that form on the sides of the container. Then open it and you will se that these spots will go away as the water vapor diffuses into the air. When the container was close the air inside was saturated and allowed for faster condensation rate, but in the open air that is not true.
