Question

20. In the circuit at the right the switch S is switched to position a for 2 hours, then switched to position b. a. 12 seconds after being switched to position T 2M2 b, what is the charge on the capacitor? (22 ) 6uF b. Two hours 1ater, S is moved back to position C. Wha t is the current 2:5 after S is moved to a? (0.4 ) current in the battery 5 seconds after the a. What is the charge on the capacitor 12 s later?? (38 uC) 21. Given the circuit at the right, what is the switch S is closed? Hint: think Re and eq 200 V eq

Explanation / Answer

(A) when switch is connected to a for 2 hrs then

Vc = 10 Volt

after that Vc = 10 [ e^(-t/T)]

T = R C = (2 x 10^6)(6 x 10^-6) = 12 sec

Vc = 10e^(-1) = 3.68 Volt

Q = C Vc = 22 x 10^-6 C or 22 uC

(B) now Vc = 0

after that ,

Vc = 10[1 - e^(-t/T)]

Vc = 10[ 1 - e^-1] = 6.32 Volt

Q = 37.9 uC Or 38uC

(C) Vc = 10 [ 1- e^(-2.5)] = 9.18 volt

V - I R - Vc = 0

10 - I(2 x 10^6) - 9.18 = 0

I = 0.41 x 10^-6 A Or 0.41 uA
