1.Water soluble vitamins are those that are soluble in water. They are not synthesized in our body and has to be consumed. Vitamin B1 (Thiamin), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin), Vitamin C are few water soluble vitamins. Their RDA and sources of the vitamins are -
2, Wenicke- korsakoff syndrome is a chronic disorder, caused by the deficiency of Thiamine or Vit B1. It results in encephalopahy, that causes confusion, stumbling, lack of co-ordination symptoms.,which is related to acute brain reaction to lack of thiamine.
3.Functions of water soluble vitamins -a)Vitamin B1 helps the body release energy from carbohydrates during growth b)Vitamin B6 helps the bodyto metabolise proteins.c) Vit B5 or Folate helps in genetic functions like cell division and growth.
4.Coenzymes are organic molecules that are required by certain enzymes to carry out the reaction. They them selves do not carry out any reaction.They may be loosely bound to the nezyme.
The three co enzymes are a) Thiamin or Vitamin B1 in its coenzyme form ,Thiamine Pyrophosphate.b) Vitamin B5 or Pantothenic acid in Its coenzyme form, Coenzyme A .c)Vitamin B12, in its coenzyme form, Coenzyme B12
