Question

This problem has been giving me a hard time. I posted it earlier and all responses were incorrect.

When I did the problem I came up with 1.055 x 10^-11. This answer is INCORRECT. No matter how I type in the answer it always comes back wrong. The last time I submitted an answer (which was also incorrect) I received this message.

This problem has been giving me a hard time. I posted it earlier and all responses were incorrect. Enough of a monophonic acid is dissolved in water to produced a 0.0137 M solution. The pH of solution is 6.42. Calculate the Ka for the acid. When I did the problem I came up with 1.055 x 10^-11. This answer is INCORRECT. No matter how I type in the answer it always comes back wrong. The last time I submitted an answer (which was also incorrect) I received this message.

Explanation / Answer

H for weak acid= -1/2log(Ka*C)

C= 0.0137M

1.06*10^-11= -1/2log((Ka * ) 0.0137)

pka=0.553
