Question

The following table contains enough information about this short section of a gene to allow you to determine the sequences of the DNA, the mRNA, the tRNA anticodons that would read the mRNA, and the encoded protein (assume that columns show transcriptional and translational alignments). Complete this table given.

A. Explain how the polypeptide product would be different if a mutation occured that replaced the first C with a T.

B. Explain how the polypeptide product would be different if a mutation occured that replaced the first C with an A.

C. Explain how the polypeptide product would be different if a mutation occured that delted the first C.

Explanation / Answer

Well for starters here's that chart filled out with the correct nucleotides. DNA- ATGAACGTAACA mRNA- AUGAACGUAACA tRNA-UACUUGCAUUGA polypeptide- Met-Asn-Val-Thr Answer to A. would be that the strand would lack the start codon polypeptide starting with Ile instead of Met and the protein would only be two peptides long before forming a stop codon. Answer B would yield the same chain as answer A. Answer C would yield the same results as the other two answers hopefully this helps
