Question
Name and trace the conducting system of the heart? S-NODEExplanation / Answer
Starting with the S or SA node it goes Sinoatrial node->Internodal pathways/Branches-> Atrioventricularnode and Atrioventricular septum-> Atrioventricular Bundle branches-> Bundle Branches -> Perkinje Fibers-> myocardium or cardiac cells. Remember that the S/SA node is the pace maker of the heart and therefore conducts faster than all other parts of the system, and is located right next to the superior vena cava. Also note that the AV Bundle branches are also known as " Bundle of His". Fun facts The right and left atria fire almost exactly at the same time so close that one could say they fire in unison, and that all of the conducting cells in the heart that is the ones that carry electrical impulses to the myocardium, only make up roughly 5% of the heart.
