Question
In this experiment we have used 1.0*1.0^1J/degree celcius for the heat capactiy of the coffee -cup calorimeter. let us verify this number through the following :
Experimental procedure :
1.) Place 50ml of water at 20.0 degree celcius in the coffee cup calorimeter .
2.) Add 50 ml of hot water at 98.0 degree celcius to the calorimeter holding the cold water .
3.) The Tf of 58.0 degree celcius was obtained through the temperature time graph.
Now, Calculate the specfic heat of the coffee cup calorimeter used in this experiment . remember that the heat lost by the hot water was gained by the cold water as well as the calorimeter
Explanation / Answer
s=specific heat capacity m=mass q=heat T=temperature cal=calorimeter hw=hot water cw=coldwater
Scal(Tf-Ti) +Mhw(Shw)(Tf-Ti) +Mcw(Scw)(Tf-Ti)=0
