1)there are several ways to classify the rocks, rocks can be classified according to their genesis. rocks which are formed from magma are called igneous. rocks which are formed by the process of weathering and erosion of igneous rocks called sedimentary rocks, and rocks which are formed by the alteration of pre existing igneous and sedimentary rocks are called metamorphic rocks.

rocks can be classified according to their grain size such as coarse grained rocks and fine grained rocks, and the other is based on mineralogy whether it is felsic or mafic etc

2) granite and rhyolite have the same mineralogical compositions but their texture is different . granite is formed as a plutonic rock so it has coarse grained texture where as rhyolite is formed as a volcanic rock so it has fine grained texture
