Explain the difference between a type I, type Il and reverse type I core-shell nanocrystal? Give an example of each. For each of your examples identify the material whose band gap will dictate the energy of luminescent light (Hint: it could be either the core or the shell or both), and give an estimate of the wavelength of the emitted light for nanocrystals large enough that quantum confinement effects can be neglected. Consider the X-ray diffraction pattern of a CdSe nanocrystal shown below (the y-axis is intensity of the diffracted X-rays and the x-axis is related to the 2-theta angle). Why is the (002) so much sharper than the other diffraction peaks?
