Question
For this question I am primarily looking for the enthalpy of formation of TNT.
If you can also tell me what has the enthalpy of formation -153.89 kj/mol then I would be much obliged. Also, is this the kind of information an undergrad student would be expected to derive on her own? It is just that I am having trouble finding all the values for the enthalpies of formation I need to know to do my homework ane I hope my teacher isn't expecting me to be able to find these out on my own. Is there some formula I hadn't heard of?
Explanation / Answer
The enthalpy of formation of a compound is the change of enthalpy for formation of one mole of compound from its constituent elements ,with substances in their standard states
TNT: C6H2(NO2)3CH3
Enthalpy of formation = -261.5 Kj/kg
the unit here is kilo joule / kilograms dont get confused
