Question
The use of performance-enhancing drug is illegal in Olympic and other international competitions. Many sport governing bodies require athletes to undergo random drug tests, involving blood or urine analysis. How would you analyse a urine sample for drugs and drug metabolites? Remember that there are a wide variety of drug ( everything from alkanes to highly-conjugated molecules with multiple functional groups), but the list of compounds is finite and known ( ie. you are testing for specific organic molecules)
Give specific details on experimental parameters and comment on sample preparation. {instrument: such as GC, IR, electrophoresis, MS etc, details on detection , sample prep, quantitation}
