At this point, add the aniline mixture at a rate that the mixture in the round bottom flask continues boiling, but does not flood the condenser whf n the addition is complete, allow the mixture to cool to room temperature and collect w k suction filtration Transfer the solid to a 25 mL Erienmeyer flask, add 10 mL of acetic anhydride and 1 n anhydrous sodium acetate, and heat gently (- 95 degree C), with intermittent stirrina minutes - by this time all of the solid in the flask should have dissolved Let teh solution cool to the touch, then pour, with into 35 degree mL of ice water. Collect the solid by suction filtration. Place teh solid between two sheets of filter paper and press between layer of paper towels to remove as much water as possible form the solid. Recrystallize the product from cyclohexane.
