Question
For the following precipitation reaction, write the total ionic and net ionic reactionLi2SO4 + Ca(ClO3)2
What is the percent yield of 1.17g of the precipitate was isolated when 27.4 mL of a 0.900 M solution of lithium sulfate was reacted with 27.7 mL of a 1.20 M solution of calcium chlorite?
How many potassium ions are in solution after the reaction? For the following precipitation reaction, write the total ionic and net ionic reaction
Li2SO4 + Ca(ClO3)2
What is the percent yield of 1.17g of the precipitate was isolated when 27.4 mL of a 0.900 M solution of lithium sulfate was reacted with 27.7 mL of a 1.20 M solution of calcium chlorite?
How many potassium ions are in solution after the reaction?
Li2SO4 + Ca(ClO3)2

Explanation / Answer
Ca(ClO3)2(aq) + Li2SO4(aq) = CaSO4 + 2 LiClO3
NO OF MOLES OF LITHIUM SULFATE = 27.4*0.9/1000
= 0.02466
NO OF MOLES OF CALCIUM CHLORITE = 27.7*1.2/1000
= 0.03324
AS LITHIUM SULFATE IS LIMITNG REAGENT, 0.02466 MOLES OF PRECIPITATE (CaSO4 ) MUST BE FORMED
0.02466 MOLES OF CaSO4 = 3.354 gm OF CaSO4
PERCENTAGE YIELD = 1.17*100/3.354
= 34.884 PERCENT YIELD
