Question
To understand how climate is changing currently and product changes in the necessary to compare climate conditions of the past to the present. This has been done. These are types of indirect measurements of substitutes that indicate p climate conditions. Which of the following is a proxy indicator? a. Ice caps, Ice sheets & glaciers (by drilling cores) b. sediment cores c. Tree Ring d. All of the above are proxy indicators Describe any 5 of the many findings in the 2007 or 2014 reports by the UN's Intergovern Panel on Climate Change(IPCC). 1. ______________________________
Explanation / Answer
IPCC- The international body for assessing the science related to climate change.
It was written by over 800 scientists from 80 countries, and assessing over 30,000 scientific papers, the Fifth Assessment Report tells policymakers what the scientific community knows about the scientific basis of climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for adaptation and mitigation.
1. Evidence that Humans Are Causing It Is Stronger.
The cause of global warming is burning of the fossil fuels.
2. The Forecast Is Challenging.
The emission of greenhouse gases has increased by 5% since 2007.
3. It is clear that human effects are causing climate change.
The climate changes experienced by human effects are sea-level rise, shrinking glaciers, decreasing snow and ice cover, warmer oceans and more frequent and intense extreme weather events.
4. Much of recent warming has been in the ocean and the oceans are turning acidic.
About 90% of energy is going into the ocean which is causing the rise in temperature. The effluents from the industries released CO2 which caused the ocean to become acidic.
5. We must switch mostly to renewables by 2050, and phase out fossil fuels by 2100.
The extensive use of fossil fuel will cause the extinction of fossil fuels so to avoid this problem we must switch to renewable resources.
