Question

Speaking at a University’s graduation ceremony, Professor Robson compared college and university graduates with adults who are less educated.

She correctly noted that people with higher-education degrees pay more taxes, vote more frequently, engage in more volunteer activities in their communities, and are less likely to go to jail than less-educated adults. The professor concluded that colleges and universities obviously do great things for society. How might you reasonably challenge the way the professor reached her conclusion?

Explanation / Answer

The professor reached to the conclusion that the colleges and communities do great things for the society on the basis of the tax paying or community activity. He completely forgot to accredit the students for their hard work and the quest to find a job that keeps them employed and eligible to pay the taxes.

The professor has completely neglected the fact that the students in colleges and universities volunteer into social work as their own decision- as explained by the word volunteering, and that the particular student has the intent of non indulgence into criminal activities so as to go to jail. The indulgence into criminal activities is partially education related, as being more educated does open up new horizons , but on the other hand it is also completely the free will of the individual, if he wants to perform any such activities even after being educated. There have been instances where even the college graduates have performed crimes and such as hacking or fraud or bank theft.

Thus, it can be concluded that indulgence into any sorts of criminal activities can be accredited to a person's needs and their financial and employment status.
