Everyone knows that children are basically mindless creatures until they get to be around six years old. Then they change into monsters as they become teenagers, but once they’re adults they become human and nothing changes until they get old and senile. So, why bother studying life-span development?” Bring your uncle up to date on today’s life-span perspective, using one of the theories you agree with most as support.

The term lifespan development refers to age-related changes that occur from birth, throughout a persons' life, into and during old age.
There are six stages in lifespan develpment:
Infancy, Childhood, Adolescence, Early Adulthood, Middle Age, Older Age.
Infancy: Birth-two years.During this stage, the bond that develops between the infant and their primary caregiver is important in terms of the infant's later emotional development.
Childhood:children's cognitive skills develop and they also begin to develop an understanding of what is right and wrong.
Adolescence:The onset of puberty marks the beginning of adolescence. It is dominated by seeking independence from parents and developing one's own identity.
Early Adulthood:Stage of establishing personal and financial independence and establishing and consolidating a career.
Middle Age:Forty-sixty five years. This is a period of expanding social and personal involvements and responsibilities, advancing a career, and supporting offspring in their development to becoming mature individuals.
Older age:Sixty five years plus. A period of considerable adjustment to changes in one's life and self-perceptions.

Life-span developmental theory provides a framework for understanding human aging. The main purpose of theory in the study of aging is to provide a context for describing and explaining the regular transformations that occur with time to representative organisms living under representative conditions.

Plasticity :Plasticity means that the ability to change is not restricted to any period of life but that people of all ages are able to react and adapt to their environment (Boyd & Bee, 2009).
Physical domain, mental domain and social domain development should be improved while development.
The process of aging is ongoing and the passage from one period to the next seems subtle and gradual. While the study of life can be compartmentalized with every portion separated and sectioned off; life itself cannot be divided but must be lived within the context of all the preceding periods which have already come to pass and those which may well still remain ahead.

I support, Piaget's theory of cognitive development -- a comprehensive theory about the nature and development of human intelligence.
According to this theory, cognitive development was a progressive reorganization of mental processes resulting from biological maturation and environmental experience.
