Question
You’ve come a long way, baby.”
In 1968, this was the slogan that U.S. tobacco company Philip Morris used to introduce a cigarette marketed exclusively to women: Virginia Slims. The brand was wildly successful, with its name and slim shape connoting femininity and the company recommending it, not so subtly, as a weight loss aid. Forty years earlier, only “bad” women smoked. Fast forward: By 2008, cigarette ads were long banned from television, and anti-smoking advertising is ubiquitous. In an 80-year span, attitudes about smoking veered from disapproval, to acceptance, back to disapproval, to the point that today all smokers are nearing pariah status.
Consider how this episode illustrates the factors that influence attitudes, both individual and societal. How is attitude change achieved, and why is it so difficult and complex?

Its main objective was to suggest different health policies based on the beliefs of smokers in each country. The results show that the majority of smokers wanted to stop smoking, although the percentages varied considerably among countries (84% of Swedes were motivated, compared to 40% of Austrians, Germans and Italians). However, only 34% were counseled by their physicians to stop smoking, and only 11.6% received advice on how to do so.

As smoking is kind of addiction it is not so easy to quit, it takes long time.as smokers takes cellarettes as their life if they will quit they will suffer from depression and other mental abnormalities, they think that they will not able to eat, digest, meals or painful at the times of toilet.cigarettes completely captures the brain of smokers ,beyond that they do not want to think.so it quiet tough to overcome.
1.NGO should create awareness among such kind of smokers,by arranging various plays one to one session to make smokers understand how their social biological life will affect if they continue with this practice.
2.If every person thinks regarding to quit smoking it is off course possible to to achieve,as a part of society we can make aware by taunting the smokers in public places such as theaters, malls, pubs, etc.every person should change its ‘let go attitude’initially which will help to quit smoking at least by fear.
