Question
please explain
1. Two elements, R and Q , combine to form two binary compounds. In the first compound, 9.50 g of R combines with 3.00 g of Q. In the second compound, 7.00 g of R combines with 4.50 g of Q. Show that these data are in accord with the law of multiple proportions. If the formula of the second compound is RQ , what is the formula of the first compound?
Compound I: ______________________________

Please explain
A chemist in a galaxy far, far away performed the Millikan oil drop experiment and got the following results for the charges on various drops. Use these data to calculate the charge of the electron in zirkombs.
Charge = __________________ zirkombs, or an integer fraction of this charge
2.58x10^-12 zirkombs 3.22x10^-12 zirkombs 8.38x10^-12 zirkombs 6.44x10^-13 zirkombsExplanation / Answer
Let us assume molar mass of R is MR and molar mass of Q is MQ
moles of R in second compound = 7.50 g/ MR
Moles of Q in second compound = 3.00 g/MQ
Given that formula for second compound is RQ that means they are in equimolar ratio
therefore 7.50 g/ MR = 4.50 g/MQ
MR/MQ=7.50/4.50
=1.67
moles of R in first compound = 9.50 g/ MR
Moles of Q in first compound = 4.50 g/MQ
Let us assume formula for first compound is RQx that means moles of Q is x times to moles of R
therefore 3.00 g/ MQ = x*9.50 g/MR
x = (3.00/9.50)*(MR/MQ)
= (3.00/9.50)*1.67
= 0.53
Moles of Q per 1.0 mole of R = 0.53
Moles of R per mole of Q = 1.0/0.53
= 1.9
= 2.0
Hence molecular formula for first compound is R2Q
