The axial and appendicular divisions together makes up 206 bones, appendicular is not fused like the axial so it aid in movement and locomotion.

1. Axial- It is composed of 80 bones.it is in the head and trunk region. It is mainly composed of 6 parts that are- skull bone, ossicles of middle ear,hyoid bone, rib cage , sternum, vertebral column.

Appendicular- this consist of 126 bones. It involved in locomotion of the axial skeleton. It is formed during development from cartilage by the process ' endochondral ossification' . It also consist of 6 regions are- pectoral bridle, arm and forearm, hand, pelvis, thighs and legs, feet and ankle.
