The sentinel events have mostly been the result of communication failures between physicians and nurses. This even causes the adverse effects on the patient. So the need to improve the communication technology became very important so the information technology has made everyone's life easy.

Nowadays almost all the hospitals have the HMIS systems that has all the information about the patient such as demographic details, clinical investigations, and other confidential details.

Taking healthcare online has been a revolution in healthcare. The nurses, physicians and other workers were encouraged to use the system for the betterment of the patients and to ease the work process. All the data of the patient is recorded online and can be accessed anytime, by the authorized people. But the use of information technology on ethical guidelines is encouraged because it will maintain the confidentiality of the patient's information and prevent any illegal problem. Through the use of IT the use of insurance in healthcare has also gained popularity. The reimbursement services is done fastly after the introduction of IT. The use of HiPAA provides data security and safeguards the data of the patient.

Through information technology the overall management of healthcare information is simplified and has become more efficient.
