Question
I'm having trouble with the math part of my chemisty class. Can someone please break this equation down for me in simple steps? I'm confused about how to get rid of the "Tf" (final temp) on the left side of the equation.
-1004.16 x (Tf - 290.2) Joules = 89.0 g x 0.449 J/g K x (Tf - 351.5) K
= 39.961 x (Tf - 351.5) Joules
Tf = 292.55 K
I have no idea how to get to the final answer. Pls help and include explanations for each step.
Explanation / Answer
-1004.16(Tf-290.2) = 39.961(Tf-351.5) or, -1004.16Tf+ 291407.232 = 14046.291+ 39.961Tf. Or, -1044.121Tf = -277360.941. Or, Tf = 265.640 K
