1) You have been asked to develop a walk-way made of glass across a deep canyon as a tourist attraction (think rip-off of the Havasupai Indians walk-way at the Grand Canyon). A supporting steel frame will be built so the glass simply has to support the weight of the morbidly obese Americans walking across it. Your task is to select the glass for the project. Here you want to discuss the potential unique hazards of using glass in this fashion. Suggest a type of glass or other material that you think should be used. Explain your selection. Most importantly, the tourists should not be required to wear little clean room booties over their shoes to walk on the attraction.
