thank you ! not sure about it and need explain on each affect the ka Supplemental Questions -Titration Lab 1. Indicate how each of the following would affect the values of K, for the weak acid unknown and for LowpH the dibasic salt and the yalue of the molar mass for the dibasic salt (Would the determined values be higher or lower than the actual values?). Use larger, smaller or no change. And as always....Explain. a· The titrant (either the NaOH or the HCl) molarity is actuallyhigherthan that stated on the label. +rer er mere 1+cL . added than there The firact han the salue orine vould would be be a low ph tha eture it would ncreaje the k b. The pH meter was incorrectly calibrated such that it reads 0.53 units too high. a 65 C. The weak base sample was impure, containing about 7% inert material.Explanation / Answer
Ans:
a) If HCl molarity is more, it supresses the isonisation of weak acid, hence Ka value is decreased.
(Or) If NaOH molarity is more, it consumes the H+ ions produced byweak acid so that it shifts to new equilibrium state which produces more and more amount of H+, Hence Ka value is increase.
b) Since pH meter reads incorrectly by o.53 units high value, the original pH of the solution would be 0.53 units lesser than the reading given by pH meter.
c) Since weak base contains 7% inert material as the impurity, original weak base cocentration is less hence its pH value is decreased, so Ka increase.
