you observed in the experiment and answer these questions:
A. Which way should the equilibrium shift when Na2SO4 is added? How do your results support your answer?
B. Which way should the equilibrium shift when NaHSO4 is added? How do your results support your answer?
C. Is this reaction endothermic or exothermic? How do you know?

Explanation / Answer
HSO4- (aq) + H2O (l) <---------------------> H3O (aq)+SO4-2
A ) on addition Na2SO4.
Na2SO4 --------------------> 2 Na+ + SO4-2
product side SO4-2 concentration increases. so the reaction shifts to backward direction reactant side
B) NaHSO4 addition :
NaHSO4 ------------------------> Na+ + HSO4-
on adddition of NaHSO4 , HSO4- concentration increases on reactant side . so reaction shifts to the product
side
(C) this is exothermic reaction .
HSO4- comes from strong acid H2SO4 . so heat which radily gives proton to the water . heat released in this reaction.
