Could someone please explain how to get the answer for this? I'm just very confused. Thank you in advance!

Explanation / Answer

Kcatis the rate constant of formation of product and enzyme from the enzyme-substrate complex. Kb is the rate constant of formation of substrate and enzyme from the enzyme-substrate complex.

Given Kcat is more than Kb. So, the rate of formation of product and enzyme from the enzyme-substrate complex is more than the rate of formation of substrate and enzyme from the same enzyme-substrate complex.

Therefore, when Kcat is more than Kb, enzyme will convert the substrate into product. The enzyme will be unchanged afterwards (option d).
