Explanation / Answer
When a 34 year old man says he is chocking, encouraging him to cough is recommended. Since the person is able to speak chocking is mild. Hence coughing can promote the expulsion of the obstructed object through the mouth. Stridor is caused due to such obstacles in the mouth. As the person is able to cough , he can be encouraged to do the same.
If the person is unable to breathe or speak, then abdominal thrust is recommended. Suctioning the airway will not be that much effective. Self administered inhaler may further make the foreign body to move inside and this may be fatal.
