Question

Concept Map: Tunneling transport process used to characterize high field quality of dielectrics. Fowler-Nordheim current is used to characterize breakdown threshold of Metal Oxide Semiconductor, MOS, gate dielectric materials. See for example: http: //ecee.colorado.edu/~bart/book/book/chapter3/ch3_9.htm Cover image Y.L. Chiou, J.P. Gambinob, M. Mohammad, "Determination of the Fowler-Nordheim tunneling parameters from the Fowler-Nordheim plot, " Solid-State Electronics, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2001, Pages 1787-1791. J_FN = AE^2_OX exp (-B/E_OX) Show more To Do: 1) Sketch a possible plot based on the above J_FN equation. Should be a straight line. 2) Find a breakdown histogram (#/|E >) for a MOS dielectric. 3) Determine from our examples in lecture and text the most probable breakdown mechanism predicted by Fowler-Nordheim process.

Explanation / Answer

The process that carries nerve impulses toward another neuron or target enzyme is axon.

The spherical part of the nucleus is known as the cell body (also called as soma). It consists of a nucleus. It forms a connection between dendrites and axons. Dendrites bring the information towards neuron whereas axon sends information from one neuron to another neuron.
Sometimes axon splits into a group of small, thin terminal branches or projections known as axon collaterals. These projections back toward the cell itself and thereby maintains the feedback mechanism by regulating cell firing.
