Question: Discuss the concept of Renaissance Humanism. Explain, in your own words, what humanism is/was.
Who were the humanists?
What values did they espouse and what were their goals?
In your opinion what has been the influence of humanism in shaping the modern world?
Has that influence been positive or negative?
Answer: The humanists were the founding fathers of the Renaissance. They were extremely educated individuals who used their knowledge to teach and preach to the others around them. By doing this they were able to spread wisdom and culture. Passing on what they knew helped to culture the others around them and continued to pass down their knowledge. I believe that the humanist had a huge and beneficial affect on our culture today. They set up the base of learning, language, and culture that has been passed down to our society today. They created new and exciting ways of thinking that inspired others around them as well. Without the humanist who knows what would’ve went undiscovered because people were too scared to voice their new ideas.
