Explanation / Answer

1) Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) ----> MgCl2(aq) + H2(g)

2) Molarity = moles of HCl/volume of HCl solution in litres

Thus, volume of HCl solution in litres = moles of HCl/molarity = 0.284/0.8624 = 0.329 litres = 329 ml

3) As per the balanced reaction, moles of H2 produced = moles of Mg reacted = 0.126

Molar mass of Mg = 24 g/mole

Thus mass of Mg reacted = 0.126*24 = 3.024 g
