Question

In an experiment to measure the vapor pressure of ethanol, the following data were obtained: How many grams of ethanol were in the full device? How many grams were driven out by the air? What is the volume of the ethanol driven out? What is the volume of the bubble? Find the partial pressure of air in the bubble. (Note that the mass of air remains the same, but it occupies a larger volume than 0.200 mL since some vapor entered the bubble. Total P is 725 mm Hg.) What is the partial pressure of vapor in the bubble? (This is the vapor pressure of ethanol at 22.9 degree C!)

Explanation / Answer

The entire procedure os ok, at the end the subtraction is 725-674.418= 50 mmHg, and woud be the vapor pressure of ethanol at that temperature.
