Question

Answer these 3 chemistry multiple choice questions . Please.. 1. The mass of an electron is 9.10938x10.28 g, while the mass of a proton is 1.67262x10 z g. This means (A) ...according to significant figures, the masses are roughly equal. (B) ...a proton is a little less than 4 times heavier than an electron. (C) an electron is over 2000 times heavier than a proton. Cylinder A (D) ...an electron is a little over 4 times heavier than a proton. (E) ...a proton is almost 2000 times heavier than an electron. 2. Graduated cylinder A was filled with and a piece of vanadium was placed in the water. If vanadium has a density of 5.43 the mass of this piece of metal should be reported, to the correct number of significant figures, as: 20 (A) 0.69 g (B) 0.687 g (C) 43 g (D) 42.9 g (E) 1.45 g 3. If 0, has the name "periodate," what would be the name of IO2 (A) iodate (B) iodite (C) hypoiodite (D) iodine dioxide

Explanation / Answer

1) we will divide the two masses

Mass of proton / Mass of electron = 0.1836 X 10^4 = 1836 (almost 2000)

so Proton is almost 2000 times heavier than electron

2) The volume of water = 23.0 mL

Volume of vanadium + water = 31 mL

So volume of Vanadium = 31-23 = 8.0 mL

Density = 5.43 g/mL

Mass = Density X volume = 5.43 X 8 = 43.44 grams = 43 grams

3) The compound is iodite
