Question
Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium for Benzene-Toluene System Exercises: Use the Txy diagram for benzene and toluene to solve the following problems. An equimolar liquid mixture of benzene (13) and toluene (T) is slowly heated from 70degree C to 105 degree C at I atm. At what temperature does the first bubble from?_______degree C What is the vapor composition of the first bubble? Y_b =____; yr =____What happens to the liquid and vapor phase amounts and compositions (x and v) as heating proceeds?_____What was the liquid composition of the last droplet? X_B =_____; x_T =_____From the graph, what is the normal boiling point of benzene?_____degree C What is the normal boiling point of toluene?_____degree CExplanation / Answer
Every thing was fine and exactly correct answers except third one.
(iii) Benzene has high vapor pressure than toluene .So, as the heating proceeds more benzene will be in vapor phase (y-valueof benzene increases) and the liquid contains more toluene and less benzene(x-value of benzene decreases)
So finally y- increases and x decreases this should be written rest are exactly correct .I wish your are good at VLE plot
