When we eat food, the carbohydrates are converted to simple sugars called monosaccharides through carbohydrate metabolism in the digestive tract, which are yhen absorbed in to the blood. This condition increases the level of blood sugar. This is utilized by the body during many activities like exercise. And the excess blood sugar will be converted to glycogen and stored. It is safe to have the blood flow through the entire circulatory system, as it will provide or distribute the available important ingrediants such as glucose, oxygen to the entire part of the body. The responsibility of hormone insulin is to convert the blood glucose in to a storage form called glycogen through the process called glycogenesis. The pancreas will produce this hormone insulin, only when there is an excess of glucose level in blood. It converts the excess blood glucose in to glycogen and there by maintain the blood glucose level normal. If a person does not eat for many hours, there is no carbohydrate to metabolize to form monosacharides. As a result the blood glucose level falls down. In this situation, pancreas releases a hormone called glucagon, which helps to convert the stored glycogen to glucose and maintain the blood glucose level normal.
