Question
This is an experiement about Boyle's Law. We recorded the following graph:
If the trendlines were projected backward to the point(s) where they would intercept the horizontal axis at 1/V = 0, would all three be expected to cross at the same point? What would Equation 7 predict about this? The equation is below.
Boyle's Law Graph 400000 350000 300000 250000 200000 150000 100000 50000 Trend ine for Dataset #1 y 45653x + 100302 Trendline for Dataset #2 y= 66332x+ 129602 . Trend ine for Dataset #3 y 116663x 189418 0.2 0.6 0.8 1.2 14 1.6 Mass (kg)Explanation / Answer
1/V=0 means the y intercept =0 and as per the equations given
the for blue line x=-100302/45653= -2.19
for the red line x= -129602/66332 =-1.95
and for the light line x= -189418/ 116663 =-2.1
so the x intercept is different and hence do not cross the same point.
