The given eluant is best for seperating them efficiently as we can seen from starting compound benzoin is more polar at bottom (Lane 1) and the product benzil is less polar at top (Lane 3). A mixture of high percent of less polar solvent (hexane0 and less percent of more polar sovent (ethyl acetate) is best to resolve them. Lane 2 is crude product, overlapped with starting compound and product, but Lane 1 and lane 3 are well seperated. This means starting compound is completely converted into product. No more further TLC actions are required.
