propanal --> 3 carbons + aldehyde

pentanal --> 5 carbons + aldehyde

the one with the least molar mass, propanal, will have better solubility, since the aldehyde dipole formation is stronger in the small molecule than in the large molecule, i.e. the long carbo/hydrogen chain takes away polarity

c)

acetone = 2 carbons ketone

2-éntanone = 5 carbons ketone

so... as before, the acetone is most likely to form a better/stronger dipole, therefore more polar, that is, more soluble
