Muscular dystrophy is the condition where skeletal muscles weaken and breakdown slowly. People suffering from this may not be able to walk because of acute weakness. This disease is mainly caused by problem in genes which is supposed to keep muscles healthy.
There are almost 30 different kinds of muscular dystrophy and also various forms of the disease. Depending upon the form of disease, the doctors may carry out different tests to know the exact condition causing muscle weakness. Blood tests, EMG, muscle biopsy, ultrasound tests maybe performed and after considering all the test results, the doctors suggests type of treatment that has to be done. The bitter truth is that there is no proper cure for this disease. Instead there are few treatments which can improve child's health.
But recent studies found muscle stem cell transplantation is a possible treatment for muscular dystrophy. Stem cell forms few more cells and they slowly become blood cells,bone cells,heart cells. Stem cells are also termed as bone marrow cells. Bone marrow which is a soft material found inside bones.
There are three types of stem cell transplants namely autologous,syngenic and allogenic. Every transplant process have some kind benefits as well as risks regarding. In this process the stem cells in bone marrow are destroyed. Satellite cells are stem cells found in skeletal muscles, there are also few controversies over human stem cell.
By examining the patients health condition after stem cell transplantation, no muscle weakness happened again in them.. There are few side effects that might go away on own, in rare case they become permanent and care team will look after the problem.
